In August 2025, Major League Baseball (MLB) will hold the eighth installment of the Little League Classic. The league has held a game in Williamsport, Pennsylvania every year since 2017, in what is a nod to the future of baseball. During the 2024 game between the Yankees and Tigers, MLB confirmed the date and teams that will play in the 2025 edition.
Date and location
The 2025 MLB Little League Classic will take place on August 17, 2025, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The game will be a neutral-site contest at the hometown of the Little League World Series.
Traditionally, the game airs on a Sunday night on ESPN. The 2025 edition of the game is scheduled for a Sunday.
Participating teams
The Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets are the two teams that will play in the 2025 MLB Little League Classic. It will count as a Mets home game and mark the second straight year a New York team plays in the annual event. The Yankees lost to the Tigers in the 2024 edition.
This will mark the first time the Seattle Mariners will play in Williamsport and just the second time an AL West team will play there. The only other occasion a team from the AL West played in the annual game was in 2021 when the Los Angeles Angels played the Guardians (then known as the Indians). The Angels lost 3-0.
The Mets, however, have played in the Little League Classic. New York played the Phillies in 2018, a game the Mets won 8-2. The only Met who appeared in that game and is still on the team’s 40-man roster is Jeff McNeil. Reliever Drew Smith, who pitched out of the bullpen for the Mets that night in Williamsport, is on the 60-day IL.
The Little League Classic will be part of MLB’s slate of 2025 neutral-site games. Major League Baseball will contest two games in Tokyo and one at Bristol Speedway in Tennessee.
