When is Opening Day of the 2024 MLB season?

With the 2023 MLB regular season in the books, most of the teams in baseball will now look ahead to 2024. But when exactly is the start date for the 2024 MLB season? Here’s what you need to know about Opening Day 2024 in MLB.

When is the start of the 2024 MLB season?

The 2024 MLB season will officially begin in Seoul, South Korea on March 20 with a matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. The Dodgers and Padres will play two games before a return trip home. Domestically, the start date for the 2024 MLB season is March 28.

On the 28th, all 30 MLB teams are set to be in action. Here’s a look at the MLB matchups set for Opening Day 2024:

  • Angels vs. Orioles
  • Red Sox vs. Mariners
  • Yankees vs. Astros
  • Twins vs. Royals
  • Guardians vs. Athletics
  • Tigers vs. White Sox
  • Cubs vs. Rangers
  • Braves vs. Phillies
  • Pirates vs. Marlins
  • Brewers vs. Mets
  • Nationals vs. Reds
  • Cardinals vs. Dodgers
  • Rockies vs. Diamondbacks
  • Giants at Padres

Among notable matchups include a NLDS rematch between the Braves and Phillies, the Yankees in Houston to take on the Astros, and the Blue Jays in Tampa to begin 2024. The defending World Series champion Rangers will be at home to begin 2024 and face the Cubs.

The MLB season in 2024 will start at right around the same it did in 2023. Major League Baseball opened up the 2023 campaign on March 30, so the domestic beginning for next season will fall roughly in line with this year.

The 2024 MLB campaign will also include regular season games in Mexico City, and London, and the return of the Field of Dreams event. The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will take place in Texas.
