After a wild 2024 season, eight teams entered Omaha with a chance at the NCAA Division I baseball championship. Texas A&M and Tennesee were the two teams standing after double-elimination play, guaranteeing that the SEC would win the crown. And, the matchup also guaranteed that one school would win their first College World Series. Here’s a look at which team became the winner of the 2024 College World Series and how that team got there.

The 2024 NCAA Baseball Season Champion

The Tennessee Volunteers were the champions of the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. Tennessee won 60 games in the 2024 campaign, highlighted by a best-of-three series win against the Texas A&M Aggies in the College World Series final.

Texas A&M won the first game of the series in Omaha 9-5, thanks to a solid start by Ryan Prager and home runs from Gavin Grahovac and Kaeden Kent. Thanks to home runs from Cal Stark and Dylan Dreiling, Tennessee won the second game.

The Volunteers took the third and final game 6-5. Infielder Christian Moore hit his 34th and final home run of his 2024 campaign, while Dreiling added another to this ledger. Zander Sechrist struck out seven over 5.2 IP to earn the victory.

The win marks Tennessee’s first-ever College World Series crown.

The win marks the fifth straight NCAA season, not counting the canceled 2020 campaign, in which the SEC has taken the College World Series crown.

Vanderbilt started the streak in 2019, followed by Mississippi State (2021) and Ole Miss (2022). Dylan Crews, Paul Skenes, and Tommy White helped carry the LSU Tigers to the title in 2023. Tennessee, the winner of the 2024 College World Series, continued the streak.

The last non-SEC team to win the NCAA Division I baseball championship was Oregon State in 2018.
