2024 MLB Bet Picks for April 6: Best props, odds, more

A full slate of MLB action, weather permitting, is set for April 6. Kevin Gausman is set to make his second start of the season, while the Mets will look to build after two straight victories. So, what are good plays for the upcoming day of baseball? Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for April 6, 2024.

Our best bets for April 6

Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for April 6 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):

  • Twins first five innings ML (-165)
  • Michael Wacha over 4.5 strikeouts (4.5)

The Twins will face the Guardians in an afternoon affair, a game that will see Joe Ryan face Carlos Carrasco. We like the Twins covering the money line after the first five innings.

Ryan pitched relatively well against Jose Ramirez and the Guardians last season, as he yielded six earned runs over 16.2 IP and a .532 opponent’s OPS against Cleveland.

Even though Carlos Carrasco averaged about 91 MPH — down from his days as a Met — in his first start, he can still miss bats with his secondary stuff. But, a good Twins offense against the veteran is an appealing matchup.

For our second bet, we like Michael Wacha notching at least five strikeouts in his April 6 start against the White Sox. It’s a good matchup for Wacha, as the White Sox as of 4/5 had the eighth-worst Whiff% rate (29.2%) in the league.

Wacha notched five strikeouts in his first outing as a Royal and has gotten past the 4.5 marker in nine of his last 10, dating back to August 2023.
