Detroit’s ace was back on the mound against the Guardians, as Tarik Skubal made his return from the IL. Plus, the Dodgers saw Yoshinobu Yamamoto nearly toss a perfect game against the Chicago White Sox.

Guardians defeat Tigers

The Guardians defeated Tarik Skubal 3-1 on June 13.

Joey Cantillo outdueled the two-time Cy Young Award winner on this day, as the Guardians left-hander struck out four and only allowed one run over five frames. Daniel Schneemann hit a two-run shot off Skubal in the fifth.

Skubal, who returned one month after elbow surgery, tossed 80 pitches in the game. He struck out four and didn’t make it through the fifth but his hardest-recorded pitch was 99.9 MPH — a very good sign, to say the least.

Dodgers nearly pitch no-no

The Dodgers defeated the White Sox 7-1 in what was a dominant victory in Chicago for the reigning World Series champions. Max Muncy hit two home runs, Shohei Ohtani blasted his 14th off Sean Burke, and Mookie Betts picked up three hits. However, Betts was, unfortunately, at the center of attention.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a perfect game snapped after 7.2 IP after Mookie Betts misread a ground ball off the bat of Chase Meidroth, which went off Betts’ hand and was ruled an error.

Yamamoto had a no-hitter entering the ninth, although that and the shutout were broken up by a Tristan Peters solo home run.

Yanks win in Toronto

The Yankees won their 42nd game of 2026 on June 13 with a road victory in Toronto.

That game was tied after eight, 1-1, as both Cam Schlittler and Kevin Gausman both went seven innings and struck out seven. Fernando Cruz (Yankees) and Tyler Rogers (Blue Jays) threw scoreless frames in the eighth. But in the ninth. Paul Goldschmidt‘s two-run home run off Louis Varland was the difference.

Nationals move above .500

The Nationals defeated the Mariners 8-3 to move above .500, as Washington entered June 14 with a 36-35 record.

Washington’s offense got to Luis Castillo, as the Nationals had 10 total hits, and seven of those came off the Mariners pitcher. CJ Abrams had three hits, and Luis Garcia Jr. hit his ninth home run of the year off Castillo in the fifth.

Phillies defeat Brewers

One day after the Phillies were shut out by Jacob Misiorowski, Philadelphia defeated the Brewers 9-8.

Four Phillies — Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, Brandon Marsh, and Edmundo Sosa — had three hits in the victory. Sosa and Realmuto each hit their fourth home run of the season.

However, the team struck out 15 times, seven of which came thanks to Brewers starter Shane Drohan.
