Face Scans in MLB The Show 23

Before doing anything, you’ll need to download the MLB The Show 23 Companion app. The face scan feature is available on the app, so this is a must. The MLB The Show 23 Companion app can be downloaded either off the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, depending on what type of phone or tablet one is using.

Once that’s done, you will need to sign in to the app using either a Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo account. Again, this will depend on what platform or platforms you use play MLB The Show 23 on. After that’s completed, click on the ’23’ icon on the bottom part of the screen.

At the top of this menu will be the ‘Face Scan’ mechanism. Here, you’ll have to agree to the Terms and Conditions and then be able to snap a photo of yourself. The phone will be set to selfie mode, and make sure that your entire face is in the face placeholder. Also, make sure that you are not wearing a hat or glasses. This can affect the finished product.

After you have taken a photo, you will then be asked whether you want to upload it to the servers. The process will take anywhere from one to three minutes. While doing that, you can then log into MLB The Show 23 on console. Go to your profile, and find your ballplayer. Scroll down until you find the Ballplayer ‘Appearance’ customization suite. There will be an option to accept the upload, and then apply it to the Ballplayer. Select ‘Face Scan’ to do that.

We should note that for those who want to deactivate an active face scan, follow the same steps above and then select A (for Xbox) or X (for PlayStation) at the Face Scan queue to deactivate it. If, for some reason, you want to add a new face scan or re-take the photo, go back to the app and restart the process.
