School is officially back in session but we’re still months away from the return of college baseball season. But when college baseball does come back, it will give some fans renewed hope for a shot at the NCAA College Baseball title — or something to chew on until the “boys of summer” return. So, when is the start date for the 2025 NCAA College Baseball season? Here’s what you need to know.
When is the start date for the 2025 College Baseball Season?
The official start date for the 2025 NCAA College Baseball season is February 14, 2025. This lines up roughly with what Opening Day 2024 was, as Division I teams started last year on the 15th.
While the full college baseball schedule has yet to be released, we do know the season will start on the 14th. In January 2024, eight schools confirmed they’ll start this upcoming season in Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Challenge. It was originally announced to run from February 13-16, 2025. However, it will run from February 14-17, according to the organizers.
The eight teams that will participate are Michigan, Missouri, Penn State, Rice, Stetson, Villanova, Virginia, and UConn. The Puerto Rico Challenge is expected to be an annual event.
More information on the full slate of opening weekend games is expected to be announced throughout the fall, in line with past years’ reveals.
2024 Fall Baseball
While the official 2024 NCAA baseball season is complete, that doesn’t mean there will be no action between the fall semester and February 14, 2025. Many college baseball teams will contest fall exhibition baseball games throughout September, October, and November.
Notable games announced for the fall include Auburn and Florida State on October 12, Houston and 2024 runner-up Texas A&M will square off on October 25, Army and South Carolina at Founders Park, and Alabama and Florida State, the latter two will be on October 26. The Army/South Carolina game will mark a new start for USC, as the Gamecocks have a new head coach in Paul Mainieri.
