On July 2, Sony San Diego released the Retro Home Run Derby Program in MLB The Show 24. The new program comes with packs, new Home Run Derby cards, including a 93 OVR Andrew McCutchen and an Elias Diaz Captain card that boosts Home Run Derby and All-Star cards. Here’s a look at the program, plus how to make progress.

- 5 Points: 93 OVR Captain Elias Diaz
- 10 Points: 91 OVR HRD Matt Chapman and 7,500 XP
- 15 Points: Icon and 500 Stubs
- 20 Points: Bat
- 25 Points: 91 OVR HRD Paul O’Neill and 7,500 XP
- 30 Points: MLB The Show 24 pack/1,000 Stubs
- 35 Points: MLB The Show 24 pack/1,000 Stubs
- 40 Points: 93 OVR HRD Javier Baez and 7,500 XP

Diaz boosts Home Run Derby and All-Star cards. Tier 3, which requires 18 All-Star, All-Star Game, or Home Run Derby cards, gives a +10 to Batting and Pitching Clutch, and +8 Contact vs. R and +8 BB/9.

How to make progress in Retro Home Run Derby Program
To progress in the MLB The Show 24 Retro Home Run Derby Program, users must complete Moments, PXP, and Stat-based Missions. Here’s a look at the available objectives:
- Complete four Moments (12 pts. – 3 pts. each)
- Complete optional Extreme Moment (Hit four consecutive home runs – 9 pts.)
- Complete HRD Showdown (20 pts.)
- PXP Missions:
- Tally 300 PXP with Home Run Derby (HRD) Series in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, and Conquest (5 pts.) (REPEATABLE)
- Tally 150 PXP with HRD Matt Chapman in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, and Conquest (3 pts.)
- Tally 150 PXP with HRD Paul O’Neill in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, and Conquest (3 pts.)
- Tally 150 PXP with HRD Javier Baez in 1v1 Ranked, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, and Conquest (3 pts.)
- Stat Missions:

- Tally three home runs with hitters with over 84 Speed in Retro HRD Event (3 pts.)

Realistically, one should simply do the Moments and Showdown. That’s 32 points right there and each is easy to complete. Then, pick and choose Missions. For the home run ones, consider doing those in single-player action (i.e. Mini Seasons) in a high-elevation stadium like Shield Woods or Coors Field.
The Retro All-Star Game Event Missions can be completed from July 2 through July 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM ET. These are not mandatory.
